Ski holidays in Samnaun

Samnaun lies in the Graubünden region of Switzerland, but is still best known as part of the Silvretta Arena which it shares with its Austrian neighbor, Ischgl. Samnaun is known as a tax-free shopping village that offers in abundance perfume, liquor, tobacco, and sunglasses. Luxury is everywhere! The village itself consists of 4 parts, Samnaun-Dorf, Samnaun-Laret, Samnaun-Compatsch, and Samnaun-Ravaisch. Samnaun is obviously the main ski holiday village, but most skiers from Ischgl ski in Ravaisch because that is where many tax-free shops are. Compatsch and Laurette are a lot smaller and less lively. You go there for peace and quiet. Yet, both also have a descent from the large ski resort. Samnaun has great cuisine, with a mix of Austrian, Italian, and Swiss dishes in one of the many wonderful restaurants. There are also great places for cuisine and partying all evening at the top of the mountain. The Schmuggler Alm, for example, unmistakably recognized by the red mushroom umbrellas, provides you with the best from two kitchens. From the Austrian 'Kaiserschmarren' (Austrian pancake-like dish) to Swiss Cheese Fondue, you'll find it all here!

Slope information Samnaun - Samnaun

The ski slopes around Samnaun themselves comprise mainly red slopes to the Alp Trida, a baby slope close to the tax-free shops. The diversity of ski slopes toward Ischgl is enormous. Of particular interest are the slopes around the Hollenkar that are situated in the sun for the whole day!

Snowboarding Samnaun

Samnaun itself doesn't have a lot of facilities for snowboarders, but the connected winter sports Silvretta Arena is enormous and offers a wonderful fun park. One of the coolest facilities for snowboarders in the valley at Ischgl is Big Jump, a jump with a huge air cushion that breaks your fall! The last part of the descent to Samnaun, the trip to the big gondola, is not very snowboard-friendly, so make sure that you keep up your momentum!

Skischools Samnaun

The Schweizer Schneesportschule Samnaun (schneesportschulesamnaun.ch) and Erste Schweizer Ski / Snowboardschule Samnaun (snowsports-samnaun.ch) are the two ski schools at Samnaun. Beginning skiers learn primarily around the Alp Trida and on the red runs around the village. Advanced skiers can go all over the region, including all the slopes around Ischgl.
