Ski holidays in Slovenia
Slovenia is certainly not the first ski holiday destination that springs to mind when you are thinking about the upcoming winter. The ski areas are under rapid development however and the snow and weather conditions are great. (despite the relative low altitude of the ski slopes) A ski holiday in Slovenia is often combined with a wellness treatment.
The most famous ski area in Slovenia is Kranjska Gora, where the annual World Cup slalom and giant slalom is held. The women also has a World Cup slalom in Slovenia address, this is in Maribor Pohorje ski resort.
Besides these two famous ski resorts popular destinations in Slovenia are: ski Kobla, Krvavec, Pokljuka, Logarska dolina, Rogla, Kanin, Cerkno and Vogel. These resorts are generally low but snow certain. Because the ski areas are situated relatively close to each other it is also possible to buy a ski pass for all ski resorts in Slovenia.
As a schengen / Euro country, it's pretty easy to travel and pay in Slovenia. Tourists are asked to buy a driving vignette if they travel to Slovenia by car. The roads in Slovenia are very good, and road signs show directions in Slovenian, German and English translation. This vignette can be purchased at about 100km distance from the Slovenian border at gas stations and costs 15 Euro. A skiing holiday to Slovenia is also possible by air travel. You usually fly to Ljubljana in that case. (A fly-drive is popular)
The prices here are obviously very low compared to the traditional alpine skiing countries. The food and accommodation are about 20%-30% lower than in other countries.
