Dombai is located in the northern part of the Caucasus in Russia near the border with Georgia. The Dombai Ulgen, with an altitude of 4046 meter is the highest point of Abkazia and borders the Russian province of Karachay-Cherkessia. The dispute that began in the nineties between Georgia and Russia regarding this location, still goes on. So tourism hasn't been the first priority in the last few years. The high altitude placement, guarantees snow and the relatively extensive network of slopes make the Dombai ski resort very popular with the locals. The nearest airport is Stavropol.

The 10 ski runs in Dombai are very diverse, with red, blue and black runs. The most beautiful run is situated on the flank of the Myssa-Achitara Mountain. The longest descent is almost 5km, and off-piste offer you some challenging aspects of the mountain to enjoy. Although the ski lifts network is still very old-fashioned, all in all Dombai offers a great skiing holiday with one week of entertainment on your snowboard or skis. Recently, even Heliski trips have started to be organized.
