Ski holidays in Romania
Romania is an emerging holiday destination. In the summer more and more locations along the Romanian coast are winning popularity with Western tourists, such as Mamaia on the Black Sea coast. The capital Bucharest is also gaining in popularity with tourists. As a winter holiday destination Romania is also growing. The two most famous ski holiday destinations in Romania are Poiana Brasov and the Prahova Valley (Valea Prahovei); both located in the province of Transylvania. Poiana Brasov, the absolute top ski resort is a popular destination in particular because of the nearby ancient city of Brasov, where Dracula's Castle (Bran) can also be visited. The Prahova Valley has three different ski resorts; Busteni, Predeal and Azuga. Due to large investments among others from the Romanian state, these ski resorts are not only greatly improved and expanded, they are also growing slowly into one other. Romania is a budget ski holiday destination. This has its advantages of course, but may have disadvantages. The hotels are not always up to western standards. But having fun is certainly possible here... The nature is beautiful, it's snow sure and there is plenty to do in the après-ski area!
