Szklarska Porebaa is located in the Sudety Mountains in Poland. The location named is Sudeten Mountains (Lower Silesia) and is near the Czech Republic. It is famous for the Czech ski areas within reach for winter sports in the region. Book a table for an afternoon of skiing in Harrachov, Rokytnice and Splinderuv Mlyn in the Czech part of the Giant Mountains. Szklarska Porebaa itself has plenty to offer, however, and is one of the finest ski areas in Poland. Szklarska Porebaa is flanked by three mountain peaks: the Wysoki Kamien (1058 meter altitude), the Labski Szczyt (1471m) and the Szrenica (1362m), where most ski runs are located. Besides its skiing possibilities, Szklarska Porebaa is also known as a mineral extraction site in Poland. You can find old mines and mineral museums. Some mines are still in use and amethysts, emeralds, rubies, quartz and other mountain crystals are still extracted.

Szklarska Porebaa has three main ski sectors: ski area Szrenica, ski area Miasto and the cross-country ski center in Jakuscze. The ski slopes of Ski Szrenica are especially worthwhile. With 13km of slopes, the ski area has some attractive runs for both beginners and advanced. Beginners are usually seen on the blue Puchatek descent or the long red Lolobrygida ski run of 4.5 kilometers that goes all the way from the top of the Szrenica down into the valley. Advanced skiers also have a very cool black ski run from the summit that goes through the trees down into valley. Many of the slopes in this area are also equipped with snow cannons, so sometimes you can ski here in Szklarska Porebaa until the end of May. The Miasto ski area in Szklarska Porebaa, also offers 3km of slopes, mainly of blue ski runs which are relatively easy. Jakuscze district, is the home of the cross-country skiing center Osrodek Narsciarstwa Boegowego. With more than 100km of prepared and semi-groomed cross-country trails, this is also one of the finest cross-country destinations throughout Europe. Because these cross-country trails also connect to the Czech part of the Isere Mountains, you can go cross-country skiing for days not taking the same routes
