Ski holidays in Remarkables

Remarkables ski resort is located in Otago on South Island in New Zealand. The towns of Queenstown and Arrowtown are both about 40 minutes away, with Wanaka located on about one hour and fifteen minutes away. The landscape of the area surrounding Remarkables ski resort makes does justice to its name. Views are spectacular with a lot of mountain ridges that tower above the shores of Lake Wakatipu. As for accommodation, there is no lodge or hotel immediately next to to the ski slopes and only a few accommodations in Otago itself. The majority of skiers who come here every day are driving back and forth from Queenstown (a city with plenty of hotels, B & Bs and night life). There are daily shuttle buses in the morning and evening between Queenstown and Remarkables.

Slope information Remarkables - Remarkables

The ski area of The Remarkables has a total of 220 hectares of ski slopes. The Remarkables is a family resort and this is clearly visible on the ski slopes. Whether you are a beginner, advanced or expert you'll have plenty to enjoy here. For experts, there is also ample challenge in the area such as several chutes (deep narrow descents full of powder snow) for experienced skiers. Besides all these wonderful slopes Remarkables also has a Snow tubing descent popular with families.

Snowboarding Remarkables

The Remarkables has a total of four different fun parks. For beginners there is the Tararua Iced Coffee Newbie Park, whilst intermediates will find their way to the Dirty Dog Terrain Park. Furthermore, the Remarkables also includes The Stash, a comprehensive world-class terrain park, also found in France (Avoriaz) and in the United States (Northstar-at-Tahoe, California) under the same name. Finally, park number 4 is not really a park, the Parklife Halfpipe, a state-of-the-art Halfpipe. All in all, this makes Remarkables one of the absolute favourite destinations for freestyle snowboarders worldwide.

Skischools Remarkables

The Remarkables Snow Sports School offers both ski and snowboard lessons. For advanced skiers Remarkables also has a Performance Centre where advanced skiers and snowboarders can improve their skill levels. This centre includes extensive online freestyle lesson programs.
