Ski holidays in Broken River

Ski resort Broken River is situated on South Island on about 1,5 hour drive from the city of Christchurch in New-Zealand. The ski resort Broken River is often open from end of June all the way until beginning of October, forming one of the longest ski seasons in the region. The small number of hotel beds in the resort are divided over the Lyndon Lodge, the Whitestar Lodge and the Broken River Lodge.

Broken River ski resort has a total of 300 ski-able acres which are connected by 5 drag lifts. The ski area is known for its extremes, with both slopes for beginners and extensive slopes and runs for (very skilled) experts. When looking at the trail map for the area this already shows, with the black runs classified as; Expert (One Black Diamond), Tricky (Double Black Diamond) and Suicidal (Triple Black Diamond). Apart from the large number of black runs, there is also a large variety in off piste slopes. Both through black runs as well as these offpiste descents it is possible to reach neighboring ski resort Craigieburn.

There is a small fun park in Broken River, situated at the bottom of the 'Slalom Ridge' slope.
