Ski holidays in Ohau

Ohau ski resort is located near the town of Twizel in the South Island of New Zealand. The location is approximately in the middle of the road between Queenstown (located 2.5 hours) and Christchurch (just under 4 hours drive). Ohau Snow Fields as the resort is also called is famous for its beautiful location on Lake Ohau. The ski resort is a small commercial ski area is run by the Neilson family. The Lake Ohau Lodge is located 15 minutes drive and is the most popular accommodation for winter sports at this resort.

Slope information Ohau - Ohau

The ski slopes of Ohau ski resort cover 125 acres. The small ski area Ohau Snow Fields is very clear and therefore very suitable for families with children. The chairlift that takes you to the top has some very simple slopes down into the valley (the Boulevard), some slightly more challenging (eg Towers) and also some advanced black runs like the Escalator. There are also some great off-piste powder snow runs right next to the ski slopes.

Snowboarding Ohau

There are two different terrain parks in Ohau Snow Fields. The resort has recently purchased a special piste bully that helps in carving and preparing the the jumps, rails and boxes into optimal shape.

Skischools Ohau

The Ohau snow sports school offers both ski and snowboard lessons. For children there is the Mountain Goats beginner program that helps the kids taking the first steps on skis or board.
