Ski holidays in Mount Olympus

Mount Olympus ski resort is located near the town of Windwhistle on the South Island of New Zealand. The city of Christchurch is located approximately 2 hours drive away. The ski resort run by Mt Olympus Ski Club, and is semi-commercial. This of course means that you can buy ski passes, but they are available limited so do not expect mass tourism here. Despite the small size of the area, there is the possibility to sleep on the mountain; if you do you will be expected to bring your own sleeping bag and sheets. For the select group who enters into this adventure, it is more than worth it! The apres-ski is a lot of fun for example, and there is also a real hot tub on top of the mountain, so bring your bathing suit!

The Mt Olympus ski area has 60 acres with ski slopes. Advanced skiers are attracted to Mt. Olympus in particular thanks to its off-piste descents forming a major attraction. With some 35% black runs and almost no simple beginner ski slopes this is clearly a destination for more experienced skiers. The ski area does not offer ski rental, but it is possible to rent a nutkracker that you can use at the lifts.
