Ski holidays in Appi

Appi Ski resort, (also known as Appi Kogen) is located in Iwata prefecture in the Tohoku region on the main island of Honshu in Japan. The ski resort is easily accessible by both plane and train through the city of Morioka, from where buses go to Appi. The nearest airport is that of Hanamaki (at one hour drive from Morioka). There are direct connections to Hanamaki from Sapporo, Tokyo and Osaka. It is also possible to take a super fast train from Tokyo, which brings you to Morioka in two hours. The slogan of the ski area is appropriate, 'Don't Worry be APPI '! The atmosphere is very relaxed here, and you can enjoy a variety of spas. For families with children the resort includes the APPI Ranch, a playground in the village where children can have fun in igloos and play in the snow. There is also a small petting zoo (This is inside) at the Ranch. This Appi Ranch is located next to the APPI Grand Hotel.

Slope information Appi - Appi

The Appi Kogen Ski Resort ski slopes are for the most part on the flanks of Mount Maemori, which has a peak of 1305 meters. Some slopes are also on the adjacent Mount Nishimori (boasting a peak of 1328 meters). The 21 ski runs offer enough challenges for both beginners and advanced skiers, with most slopes returning down into the village. Two 8-person gondolas take you to the top. From the top the longest slope is no less than 5.5 km long! For expert skiers, there are some challenging black runs including moguls and beautiful powder runs.

Snowboarding Appi

For snowboarders, there is the brand new Salomon APPI Snowpark. This fun park has a beginner area and a more advanced section, each on either side of the situated Shirakaba Run.

Skischools Appi

The Appi Ski & Snowboard School offers both group and private lessons. The classes are offered as a half day (two hours) and full day (four hours). The method used in APPI ski resort is based on the Austrian national ski school.
