Ski holidays in Bormio

Ski resort Bormio is the capital of Alta Valtellina (The ski area is usually also Bormio), the ski resort is located in Sondrio in the North of Italy, next to lake Como. Bormio is a beautiful Roman town with lovely streets along Roman baths and churches. The largest part of the centre is free of traffic and has not yet been discovered by the massive tourism. Bormio is known to the Italians themselves and it is certainly a winner in Italy!

The Bormio ski area (ski resort Alta Valtellina) is divided into 3 sectors, each with its own slopes: Bormio, Santa Caterina, and Validentro Colombano. The slopes directly above Bormio are the most popular and also the most difficult, and the descent from the highest point down in the Valley has an altitude of 1800 m! (one of the largest drops across Italy). Overall, the downhill in Bormio from Bormio 2000, are almost all longer than 10 km. Especially on weekends, the slopes are densely populated with skiers from the surrounding large cities.

Bormio does not have an extremely busy nightlife. Most people come here for skiing and perhaps enjoy the different restaurants.

The Bormio Snow Park stretches across nearly 800 m and has more than 75 modules, including enormous double-kick jumps. The Bormio Snow Park is divided on different levels for freestyle skiers or snowboarders.
