Ski holidays in Bardonecchia

The ski area Bardonecchia is located in the Piemonte region in Italy. Bardonecchia is located near the Frejus Tunnel on the border with France. The town has a great ski area that is particularly suitable for intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Because of the many day trippers from Turin it may be very busy on weekends, although most skiers go to the slightly larger Via Lattea. Bardonecchia was also one of the sites for skiing and snowboarding during the Olympic Winter Games of Turin 2006. Snowboard competitions were held in the district Mélezet, and Bardonecchia there was one of the largest settlements of the former Olympic village. The après-ski in Bardonecchia is peaceful, but contains a large number of venues that have recently been constructed for the Olympic Games of Turin. This village has a number of cozy cafes, restaurants and even nightclubs!

With more than 145 km of slopes in total, Bardonecchia is a fairly large ski area with enough challenge for every level of ability. The ski slopes are spread out over 4 sectors: Jaffreau, Les Arnaud, Melezet and Campo Smith. The last three are well connected, via various lifts. Jaffreau is better suited to go to on a one day trip. Certainly at the end of the week, as the lessons have done their job, the slopes of Jaffreau are a great trip!

There are 4 major ski schools in the ski resort of Bardonecchia, the Scuola di Sci Bardonecchia being by far the largest. In total, the Bardonecchia ski area has about 200 ski instructors.
