Ski holidays in Livigno
The Livigno ski resort is located on the border of Italy with Switzerland in the National Park of Stelvio. Livigno is also popularly known as little Tibet because it is cold as well as sunny, the whole year round. Livigno is situated in the Italian Dolomites in a region also called Alta Valtellina. Alta Valtelline further comprises the ski areas of Bormio, Sondalo, Valdidentro, Valdisotto and Valfurva. Livigno has its own ski area, divided into three sectors: Mottolino Ski, Ski Monte Caro Ella and Della Neva. Next to the Stelvio National Park in Italy, there is the National Park of Engadin in Switzerland. This creates an environment around Livigno that is bursting with the beautiful forest, natural treasures and animal species that are present almost nowhere else in Europe. Beside the beautiful nature, Livigno is also a popular place for tax-free shopping, thanks to the tax rules that give the area a separate status from the Italian and Swiss governments. This also ensures that there are many day trippers on weekends from the nearby St. Moritz and Bormio in Livigno to come shopping (especially in the stores selling cameras, sun glasses and perfume). The après-ski in Livigno is enormous in terms of choice, especially when it comes to restaurants and bars.
