Ski holidays in Thüringer Wald
The Thuringian Forest (Thüringer Wald) is located in central Germany in a triangle between the cities of Frankfurt, Nuremberg, and Leipzig. The region is known for its Rennsteig (Rennweg), a centuries-old path through the mountains / hills of Thuringia. It is along this route where the most tourist holiday villages are. Cross-country skiers will delight in its very diverse cross-country trails network. The highest point in the Thuringian Forest, the Großer Bear Mountain, sits at 982 meters in altitude. The Thuringian Forest includes the winter sports villages of Brotterode, Ilmenau-Manebach, Oberhof, Suhl, Tabarz, Trusetal, Lauscha-Ernstthal, Masserberg, Neuhaus am Rennweg, Neustadt am Rennsteig, Schmiedefeld-Frauenwald, Siegmund Burg, and Stein Steinach-Silbersattel.
