Ski holidays in Ober-Harz

The Ober-Harz is located in the states of Saxony and Thuringia in central Germany. The Harz is a lower mountain range that peaks around 1,100-1,200 meters in altitude, thus limiting snowfall somewhat. But, for cross-country skiing and other winter sports, this is a popular winter holiday destination. The ski villages in the Ober-Harz are Altenau-Torfhaus, Bad Lauterberg, Bad Sachsa, Braunlage-Wurmberg, Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Hahnenklee, Bockswiese, Hohegeiß, Schulenberg, and Saint Andreasberg. The ski areas of Ober-Harz are not extensive, and you'll find mostly families with children who occasionally go for a day of skiing. For cross-country skiers, the ski area around Altenau provides a very interesting destination.
