Ski resort Garmisch Partenkirchen is located in Bavaria in Germany. The ski village Garmisch-Partenkirchen is famous for the annual 4-country ski-jumping tournament around the new year?s eve. The FIS Alpine Ski World Championships 2011, will also be held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Garmisch-Partenkirchen is known as one of the top winter holiday destinations and the highest ski area in Germany (2000 - 2830m). In addition to all of this there is the wonderful ski resort of Zugspitze which it is shared with neighboring village Grainau, and which is connected with the Austrian part of the Tyrolean Zugspitze.

In Karwendel Wetterstein there are three different ski regions, the famous Garmisch-Partenkirchen (among others, famous for ski jumping competitions), Grainau, and Mittenwald. Garmisch Partenkirchen itself has about 60 km of ski slopes, and is divided into two different sectors. First, there is the main Garmisch-Partenkirchen area around the hills of the Hausberg, Osterfelder, and Kreuzeck, where the most famous ski runs are located. Second, you also have access to the ski platform in Zugspitze, which can be reached through Grainau. The ski lift or ski train in Grainau takes you up to the Zugspitze, where another 40 km of ski runs are waiting for you. Around Mittenwald there are two additional ski areas, Kranzberg with 15 km of ski runs, and the Dammkar ski route which is 7.5 km long.
