Ski holidays in Daun

The small town of Daun is located in the middle of Eifel, exactly between the triangle formed by Aachen, Trier and Koblenz. The town has two ski areas: Mäuseberg and cross-country skiing center Ernstberg. The Mäuseberg only has some drag lifts and one chairlift. These connect a couple of nice downhill runs for novice skiers and snowboarders. Ernstberg, near Daun Waldkönigen is also called Erresberg, and is the second highest mountain (actually a volcano) in the Eifel, with an elevation of 698.8 meters. The cross-country center of Ernstberg is divided in three cross-country tracks, 1 of about 1 km and two of about 2.5 km. Both for beginners and advanced, this is a nice daytrip destination.

For alpine skiers, the ski area Hohe-Acht/Jammelshofen is the most attractive. This area also has about 8 km of cross-country trails. Close to the village Daun there are two separate small skiing areas, the Mäuseberg and the cross-country skiing center, Ernstberg. Around Hollerath-Udenbreth there also is a cross-country skiing center, Weißer Stein, with about 27 km of cross-country trails and two small ski lifts. The slightly bigger town of Monschau also has a small skiing area, Wintersportzentrum Monschau-Röhren. Prüm also has two small ski areas, Wolfsschlucht and Schwarzer Mann, both with about 10 km of cross-country tracks and a few small ski lifts.

The (winter) apres-ski fun in Daun is present only around the slopes of the Mäuseberg.

Snowboarding in Daun

There are no really attractive snowboard areas in the Eifel. The short descents may form a good area for some children and beginners to learn boarding, however.

Skischools and ski hire in Daun

Daun's both small ski resorts offer a ski school. Mäuseberg also offers alpine skiing lessons. (cross-country skiing lessons are also offered in Ernstberg)
