The Chiemgau Alps (Chiemgauer Alpen) are located in Bavaria, and also partly stretch into Austria. The mountain ridge forms a natural border between the two countries. The Chiemgauer Alps include the winter sports villages of Aschau im Chiemgau, Bergen am Hochfelln, Ruhpolding, and Steinplatte-Winkelmoos. In addition to the autobahn, the entire area is easily accessible by train, where the Munich-Salzburg line connects with the stations of Ruhpolding and Aschau im Chiemgau.
