Holiday village Kahler Asten is located between Altastenberg and Winterberg in Sauerland in Germany. Kahler Asten mountain is about 840 meters high, one of the highest points on the Sauerland. Skikarussel Altastenberg is the closest ski area and has a ski resort with 7 skilifts and about 8km of ski slopes in total. Winterberg and its much larger ski area are not far of course.

Sauerland has a collection of smaller ski areas, many of which are accessible via the ski pass, the Ski Arena Card. This ski pass includes Skiliftkarussell Winterberg, Willingen, Postwiesen, Neuastenberg, Sahnehang, Züschen, and Skikarussell Altastenberg. With more than 60 lifts (including 6 chair lifts) that carry you to 50 km of ski runs, this ski area is not only suitable for beginners, but even advanced or expert skiers think this is a fun destination. The ski areas that lie in Sauerland include a total of about 100 km of ski slopes, if you add all small surrounding ski areas, and a dazzling 300 km of cross-country trails!

Apres ski in Altastenberg-Kahler Asten

Apres-ski is a lot of fun in Altastenberg. Winterberg is a little livelier however, and easily accessible. On the ski slopes of Altastenberg there are three great apres-ski huts: the Hasenhütte, Schwedenhütte and the Westfalenhütte.

In three areas, Winterberg, Willingen, and Bestwig-Wasserfallen, some extra attention is given to snowboarders. The big jumps in the Winterberg and Willingen fun parks are very beautiful.
