In the Le Grand Massif area is the ski resort that is said to be the most beautiful ski holiday village in France: Samoëns. Samoëns is the only ski resort in France considered officially among the National Heritage of France. As an historical monument, Samoëns especially popular with families. The ski lifts will not start from the village but from the closeby located Vercland, where the slopes, among other things extend to the famous Col Joux Plane.

The area is one of the largest winter sports areas in the world, and connect the slopes around Flaine with those of Giffré (Morillon, Samoëns, Sixt). In addition to very broad ski slopes the ski resort also offers the trips through beautiful forests around the villages. Le Grand Massif probably has one of the longest blue runs in the world, the Cascade. This descent has almost 15 km of uninterrupted decline!
