The area is one of the largest winter sports areas in the world, and connects the slopes around Flaine with those of Giffré (Morillon, Samoëns, Sixt). In addition to very broad ski slopes, the ski resort also offers trips through beautiful forests around the villages. Le Grand Massif probably has one of the longest blue runs in the world, the Cascade. This descent has almost 15 km of uninterrupted decline!

The largest ski school in the area is the one of Valmorel. (esf-valmorel.com). But Doucy, Combelouvière, and Saint Francois Longchamp each have their own establishment of the ESF (French ski school) and a few international ski schools.
