Right next to the Mont Blanc, in the Haute Savoie, widely known around the world is the skiing village of Chamonix. Chamonix, where the first ever winter olympic games were held, is formed out of a palette of extremes. Both expensive, modern or old-fashioned as cheap accommodations are combined here. The toboggan park is enormous and certainly an attraction, and the skilifts up the Mont-Blanc (to Aguille du Midi) are a great adventure, even if you just go up there to enjoy the view.

The ski slopes around Chamonix are fantastic; this is how winter should be! With perfect snow, almost all year round and ski runs for every level of skiing, this is an area of great attraction. You can buy a ski pass for the area around Chamonix alone, but you can also opt for a pass that you can ski around Les Houches, and this is not really that much more expensive.

Many of the nightlife-fans stay in Argentière or nearby. There, the nightlife attracts a slightly younger audience. Even the people a little more accustomed to "luxury dining" will find in Chamonix exactly what they want!

For advanced snowboarders, Chamonix is fantastic! Even if the snow is not optimal in other areas, around the Aguille du Midi freestyle material is always present. For novice snowboarders, the slopes around les Houches are especially suitable. The parks around Grands Montets, Brevent, Fleregè and natural half pipe at the tour, this is a winning-destination for snowboarders!
