The lift system does indeed start from Samoens itself (The Grand Massif Express was put in about 6 years ago). In fact a 6 man chair was also put in at Samoens 1600 3 years ago. So you can be skiing great off-piste at 2000M from 700m in about 20 minutes. When you go to places like Chamonix and spend half the time in queues you realise how good a resort it is.

The above report says that the lifts DON'T start in the village that you have to g to Vercland, that's absolute rubbish. There is a high speed 8 man gondola from the village that takes apprx 8 mins o the slopes.
