Ski holidays Les Arcs

Great slopes. Fantastic ski. Arc 1800 apres ski good but not spectacular! Bars, live music, one club, choice of few restaraunts and a bowling alley! Mostly heard French, little English spoken. 70s architecture. Enjoyed!

I have been to Les Arcs many times over the years and for one simple reason - it is probably the best overall. The skiing is top notch for all abilities. There is plenty of it. The lifts are fast and queues pretty rare. It is also very French you do not hear all the English accents you here in Val dIsere or the 3 vallies. Apres ski is OK. In 1660, my personal favourite of the resorts, their is live music most evenings and a nice atmosphere. And if you no not fancy skiing then, apart from the usual ski resort activities such as dog sleds, snow shoes, paraponting, etc. you can always go down to Bourg for river walks etc. It is also the easiest ski resort to get to from the south of England: get on a train in London, get of in Bourg st. Maurice and get the funicular up to the resort. The views of Mount Blanc are fantastic. The main drawback to some people is the architecture. It is either 70s avant guard in 1600, 1800 and 2000 or fake chalets in Valandry or disney in the snow of 1950. It is all fake - what do you expect 1600m up a mountain. At least the 70s architecture blends in with the rugged mountains. Me, I ignore the architecture and look at the mountains. They are beautiful.
