Ski holidays in Portillo

Ski Portillo resort is located in the village of Los Andes at 160km from the capital Santiago in Chile. Portillo is easily accessible by transport organized transfer from Santiago, in about 2 hours drive. Once in Portillo virtually all guests stay in the famous yellow Portillo Hotel, which has a total capacity of 450 guests. In the last few years, two newer Lodges were added, but the ski resort will definitely retain its exclusivity. Portillo resort gained international fame in 1966 when the first it organised the World Cup skiing for the first time in Latin America. The ski season in Portillo lasts from June to early October.

Slope information Portillo - Portillo

Portillo ski resort is reasonably size ski area (1250 acres) with a total of 28 runs which are connected by 13 lifts. Besides its 5 chairlifts , the characteristic of the resort are two so-called Va-a-vient lifts. These 4-person (!) lifts take you - or rather catapult you up - a steep slope. Because the entire ski area is situated above the treeline, an enormous amount of completely white slopes are continuously 'staring at you'. Although the majority of the ski area are red and black ski runs, it is an experience to come here in itself for every level skiers. For advanced skiers and experts, its basically paradise in Portillo. Both the prepared (but powdery) slopes such as Primavera, but also off-piste, this ski area is an absolute highlight in terms of winter sports. As if all of these beautiful skiing conditions together aren't enough, the slopes also offer spectaculair views overlooking the beautiful Andes mountains and the legendary Laguna del Inca (Inca Lake) a lake that has a unique blue glow.

Skischools Portillo

The Portillo Ski and Snowboard School has a well established name offering both beginners and advanced classes to their liking. The ski school has 35 ski instructors with over 10 nationalities making up a great international mix.
