In the Pillerseetal, on the edge of the small Pillersee (a lake) is the ski holiday village St. Ulrich. St. Ulrich am Pillersee, as the village is formally called, is especially popular with families with children. Partly thanks to the surrounding Pillersee, St. Ulrich has a beautiful environment. This Family ski area in Buchensteinwand has both beginner and advanced skiers enough to offer, and the environment is also very popular with cross-country skiers through the familiar regional trail to St. Jakob and Hochfilzen.

Because of the good snow conditions, Pillerseetal offers more than 90 kilometers of slopes. The Pillerseetal is known as a very family - and child-friendly ski resort. The sloping hills down into the valley are fine for the first antics in the snow. The more than 90 kilometers of tracks are unlocked by 30 modern lifts. There are challenging mogul slopes, carving routes and perfect family friendly slopes. The ski slopes are divided over the ski sectors around Fieberbrunn, Waidring-Steinplatte and the Buchsteinwand.

The nightlife is upcoming, and the bars and cafes in this village in the centre as on top of the slopes are very busy and lively. The area is also known for his dogsled races.
