Ski holidays in Thredbo

Ski Resort Thredbo is located on about 30km from the town Jindabyne in New South Wales in Australia. Thredbo is literally one of the top ski resorts of Australia, it has some of the best skiing and boasts the highest ski lift in the country. The ski resort is also connected to the nearby Perisher ski resort through the Skitube Alpine Railway. The ski area is easily accessible, with both Sydney and Melbourne on about 5 hours drive away. Canberra (nearest international airport) is 2.5 hours away and Cooma (with a regional airport) is just over one hour away.

The Thredbo ski resort has enough challenges for every skill level skier or snowboarder. The skiable acres are 1180 in total, with the longest continuous run about a 6km descent. For beginners there are some easier slopes around the area called Friday Flat. The more advanced skiers will like the areas The Basin and Funnelweb. Offpiste there are also some fantastic slopes, for example to the right of the Kosi Express skilift. The Powderbowl (What's in a name) is also renowned.

Snowboarding Thredbo

For freestyle snowboarders there is no less than 3 fun parks in Thredbo. For beginners there is the small park near Merrit, which is easier with some simple obstacles. The main park is located at High Noon and counts a large number of jumps, rails and other obstacles. Finally there is the Slopestyle terrain park at the top of Anton's ski lift. Newly added in 2010, is the Thredbo Monster Bagjump, a large big-air cushion on which you can jump from a big jump ramp.

Skischools Thredbo

The Thredbo Snow Sports School offers both ski and snowboard lessons. For beginners, beginning kids in particular, there a special programs split up by age and for the absolute experts there are also so-called High Intensity Programs (HIP !).
